I have heard that the Reel Fishing League is now called "Arrowhead Tournament Trail". I haven't heard too much other than they have had 15 teams commit and a few teams are fishing it from our old groups. Mostly our walleye group and a few that want to fish Lake Superior and the Bay more. That's cool. We are just glad that everyone is fishing and competing.
It is also cool to have another fishing league for people to fish and choose from. The Arrowhead Tournament Trail is basically a only big fish fishing league. That would be a lot easier, not having to learn about pannies or other fish. But it is cool and probably more main stream, with most people too busy to get good at more than a few fish types. I am loving the extreme challenges of going up against anglers that can make the call of whether to go for the big fish, pannies, catfish, muskies, rockies, etc. and have to get 5-6 species over a minimum size to compete. Now that's a challenge.
Our sponsors should love us, because it takes more gear, more techniques, more knowledge to fish as many species as we do. A true multispecies fishing league also makes the clock the biggest enemy. You only have minutes per species and you have to move, or know that this is the best bet and stick to it. Either way, true multispecies fishing with all game fish, is extremely challenging and for this angler and fishing junkie.
I love this game.. Bring on the fish and the fishing..
