I hope my daughter is interested in getting out, it would be some great father daughter time.  I think its a great way for the guys to get the ladies or kids out fishing.  That's ALL GOOD.

Thanks again Ed for doing this.

Ed,  I think it would be good to only fish lakes where the spouse, girl friend or kid could just drag a senko and catch fish.  Size is no big deal, but I want them all to catch a bunch of fish and have a fun time.  I am not sure the River, Fish or Pike fits that bill, they can be tough for anyone that doesn't fish bass much, and then put 15 boats out there and not everyone is going to get a bass.  My thoughts are to make it easy for fish, no worry about quality, just quantity..  Hey if we are on Fish, I'm dragging a spinner for pike and having my daughter land a few dozen snakes, not working that hard for fish.

I think Caribou, Chub, Big, Island South, Grand, etc. are all easy lakes for anyone and could be fun.  Even if we have to fish them a couple times.  I keep thinking of my daughter dragging a Texas rigged bait and whether or not she'll catch any fish on that water.  I don't think she'll have much fun pitching to a dock.  And I'll need a lot more fishing line too.  Maybe a sticker on the boat that says "Ooooops, sorry about that."

Doug, Makes a valid point. new people to bass fishing should be exposed to the highest catch rates possible.I took a look at the numbers from both our leagues.Fish lake is not a bad option but there's alot of lake with no fish,Smallmouth well what can I except unpredictable! The river is a great bite when its happening other than that leave it to experts not to mention the 14 inch min.Pike lake hope we have a high water year, but the bite is good offshore there are a few fish on docks but the very worst dock owners in the area.

Chub-good

Big-good

Island south-Far from duluth

Grand-poor parking

Sturgeon-Far from duluth

Caribou-good

SLR -If we show everyone how to get up stream without hitting the rocks!

Pike- poor launch but doable-very whiney dock owners!

Fish-Need more time on the lake to find smaller easy catchable fish but still an ok option.

We have other lakes that are very good bass fishing if we have low numbers of team that have great bass fishing!up 53 there are a few I can think of that are semi close to duluth with limited parking.

Hey guys I am not fishing this but I thought I would give some of my thoughts.  First is this artifical only or what.  What ages are you targeting?  How hard is the scoring system?  I think all of these come into play.  If I fished I would be bringing my 10yr old granddaughter who has no fishing exper.  What would my options be?  Kids this young or around that age tend to lose interest real fast. Also, I think what would realy turn a child off would to get beat everynight.  So I see no harm in using live bait around docks and such who knows they might catch a bass but has more of a chance to catch something.

Hey Al what are you worried about Pike for, anybody who ice fish's in just a shirt should not be afraid of getting wet.  Grand Lake is no problem for parking, just use the right landing.  We launch 10 boats on thur night with no problem and not much of problem with dock owners.
