Possible new format..

Hey after talking to several others we are thinking it might be time to have a Wednesday group, if Frustrated wants to run it.  But how about a change of format for Mondays group..

Currently we fish for lots of different gamefish and we have done this for many years and many of us are a bit in a rut.  What if we changed things to ...  4 days for walleyes only, 4 days for pike/muskie only, and 4 days for bass only.  We could alternate from one to the other and allow anyone that wants to only fish walleyes do it, and they would be fishing every 3-4 weeks.

For example:
Wk1  - walleyes only
Wk2  - pike/muskie only
Wk3  - bass only
Wk4  - walleyes only
Wk5  - pike/muskie only
Wk6  - bass only
Wk7  - walleyes only
Wk8  - pike/muskie only
Wk9  - bass only
Wk10  - walleyes only
Wk11  - pike/muskie only
Wk12  - bass only

We could easily fish for walleyes and pike/muskie on Island (North), Fish Lake and the St. Louis River.  And for Bass we could fish the St. Louis River, Island (North), Sturgeon and Island (South) to get smallies and largies into it.  Of course the dates, order and lakes are all in the air, these are just to start people thinking.

Total inches per night, total position points towards the end of year titles for Walleye Division Champs, Pike/Muskie Champs, and Bass Champs.  Tie breaker being biggest fish in each category.   And have a Multispecies (Ultimate Angler) Title for the team with the best 10 of the 12 nights.  The Tie breaker for the overall champ could be their top 11 of 12, then all 12 nights.  That should break any tie.  If they were still tied, then total inches of all fish scored per team.

We could let people fish any one or all divisions.  I'ld fish all three and go for the Multispecies (Ultimate Angler) Team of the Year.  I think we could drop the big fish pot then and just do it this way.  It's more targeted and I like only having to think of one species before a league night.

I believe this would put everyone back at zero and make us fine tune these species and techniques.

What do you think?  We could even have a crappie night prior to the big fishing opener.  A Crappie Challenge, but not counting towards the totals.

I talked with the Roach man, and this sounds like something that is itching right where it scratches (thinly veiled TV sitcom quote - know which one?

This sounds like a great way to mix things up a bit and to push our teams in a new direction.  We in some sense, have the multi-species bit down to a certain extent.  I know that the prospect of spending a week pre-fishing for bass, or walleye, or pike sounds like a fantastic idea.  Plus, I think we would do some serious damage to the all-time large fish records.  It would kind of force us to fine tune many of these all ready existing bites, and it would allow teams to spend more than 30 mins or so on a species of fish.  LOVE IT!  Count us in for next year!

This would let someone fish for walleyes only in our walleye division, 4 nights, 3-4 weeks apart, on Fish, Island and the St. Louis River.  For a title.

Or pike/muskie only division, 4 nights, 3-4 weeks apart, on Fish Lake, Island Lake, and St. Louis River.  For a title.

Or bass only division, 4 nights, 3-4 weeks apart, on Sturgeon Lake, Island Lake (South), Island Lake (North), and St. Louis River.  For a title.

Or go for the best 10 of 12 of these nights for the Top Angler Title.

What a challenge and it would reshuffle all the teams around, it could be anyone's title to take.
