Unfortunately I cannot make it tonight but I'd love to throw in my 2 cents.

1) Agree that Bob is a great candidate for President.

2) Rules need to be gone over verbally not just by sending people to the website.  We're run into too many problems including who is in charge of time, arrival, etc.  1st night....we should go over all of them.  Who is the time keeper, who will be watching the boats returning, etc.

3) I love the idea of educating and sharing what you do to catch fish.....I think most people are more than happy to share how they did something.  The "where" you did something should certainly stay a secret.

4) Prizes/Winners - I'm not bragging here but I have 8 damn trophies for the last 2 years and I don't want anymore.  This isn't 6th grad track and field.  Let's cut the costs of making these trophies and pay cash instead.  We all have to fill our trucks, boats, bait buckets, and tackle boxes.....oh and coolers.  We can keep this leagure fun, educational, and fair.......I vote to drop this trophy crap.  Last year we had ties in certain categories.....we ended up giving trophies to both teams.....that's 4 trophies for one species of fish.

5) Sponsor prizes.....if we don't have certificates from sponsors...screw 'em.  We chase one person around, he sends us to another one, then somebody else says that somebody else was supposed to get them.  If you need help strong arming a client into getting us those ahead of time.....talk to my partner Bennie.  He has some very clever and effective persuation techniques.

6) I think it's also up to us to help recruit more members to the league.  I'm sure some of your buddies have heard about it from your converstations but give them the hard sell.  Set them up with another buddy and tell them to get off their lazy asses and come fish the league....once we get them....they should be hooked.

Thanks for listening.....see you guys on the water.  Hear about the 47 1/2" pike from Carlton Cty?  91/2" bullhead and 7" bluegill in it's stomach and (2) 21" strings of spawn.....too bad.  Cloquet taxidermist has it right now.....23" girth....nice fish.  I'm working on getting a picture....I'll share if I do.

Not sure if I'll be there tonight, my wife has to work & I have the kids.

Anyway, I somewhat agree with Chopper about the trophies. As Chopper states, the cost of fishing adds up & the cash could be used to offset those costs. However, the trophies I have look nice in my office and always seem to be good conversation starters with my customers, so I'm glad I have them.

Some options:

1. Only give out first place trophies & maybe rookies of the year. Give cash for everything else.

2. Give out traveling trophies to the first place team. Put their team name on it and they'll have possession of it until the end of the following year. At that point, it's given to the new winners & their name is added to it.

Give out no trophies, just cash. If someone wants a trophy, they can use their cash to have one made!

Well what happened guys?  I was unfortunately tied up at training.  I did hear the weather was bad, and we may need to reschedule.  What is everyone thinking?

I do know we have a couple new teams looking at it.  So it will be a fun year.

I don't think it is bad idea to give out trophies to maybe the top three teams overall.  That seems about right to me.  No trophies for the big fish pot though, and no trophies for individual species.  The big fish pot should actually be a "pot" like the name would indicate and cash be the only prize.  Either pay the top two, or maybe even winner take all.

As far as the multispecies goes, I know I seem to be in the minority here but I still think under-utilized fish should be added back into the scoring.  We can bunch them all under one category if need be, but I just don't understand why they were arbitrarily thrown out.  As I said before a lot more people fish for suckers, redhorse and carp than some of the small worthless non fighting fish that you currently allow to be scored.   I guess they not worthless as those crappies feed the real fish in the ecosystem.
