Fuse for trolling motor

Does anyone know what size fuse should be used for an older 12V bow mount troller? I don't remember what size I used, but it melted last year. I'm selling the motor & would like to give the buyer the correct info.

I would first ask the Question why the fuse melted.

It was on Island South in about 95F and we ran it through some really, really thick weeds. Busy fishing and not really paying attention until it stopped moving. I took the 50 pounds of weeds off and it wasn't working. Part of the wire (right by the fuse) had gotten pretty hot and melted to my battery. I cut out the wire and fuse, then wired it direct to finish the day. I never put a new fuse in, just started being more careful about where I ran it.

It's an older Mercury "Thruster Plus L" and I believe it's a 24 -28 thrust. troller_folded.jpg

I had the same thing happening to me.  I talked to several places and even tried a couple things, but the best is what Ryan is saying.  A 60 amp fuse, really though, it's a breaker, right at the battery and resets automatically if it is ever tripped.  Works awesome..   I added it and have been good ever since.  That's my recommendation.
