Good point.....and point taken.  I guess I see this stuff and wonder....what's next?  What if they designed a contraption similar to this Biosonix deal....but it was much better.  What if they could litterally get these fish to your boatside and put them into an eating mode...or frenzy if it was a school?

It's not the best ananolgy....but stick with me if you will...........look at sharks and shark fishing.  Not all do....but a majority of fisherpeople chum for sharks and other fish.  So here are these dudes throwing pounds and pounds of dead, ground, bloody, fish into the water.  It becomes so thick that it instantly drives these fish into a frenzy.....you could probably put a cigarette on your hook and you'd catch one.  Does this seem sportsmanlike?  You're putting the fish into a artificial feeding mode......you have triggered them into eating when they might not have been in a feeding mood.

The point........the biosonix is not chum in the water.......it's not driving them into a frenzy, but what if it could spur these fish into an agressive feeding mode.  What if they made one that could attract a small school.....all of whome are hungry and ready to eat anything.  We have enough tackle available that it wouldn't take much to get one on the hook.

I know that I'm being a futuristic pessimist.....but as you know Ouitdee, we're making things better and better everyday.  Although it sounds a bit far fetched.......it could happen.

I think it's even more rewarding to catch fish without relying on an attractor machine.

Thanks for the conversation.

I agree with Ouitdee.  There's always a lot of fear that we will find the magic pill that makes the fish jump into the net.  That will never happen.  Maybe we will understand them more and more, but not control them.  That's nature.  I have used sonars, a camera a few times, and gps units.  None have ever caught me a fish.  But they have made my fishing more enjoyable, safer and maybe offer me another view into the world of the fish and their habitat.  The sonar has allowed me to stay on the structure I wanted, but I caught the fish.

If any gadget goes too far, the DNR will make it illegal.  Consider what it would be like with no technology.  What if you fished a contest, you had no technology and had to fish a heavily fished water.  You have a cane pole and safety pin for gear, but the others have sonars, super braid lines, the newest lures, gps units and boats to get to the spots they have read about on a fishing report from a recent fishing tournament.  Who would you bet on?  But the bottom line is who makes the calls.  If you have all the tools in the world but do not know how to use them, then they are worthless.  Knowledge is the key to being more productive.

The more we fish in our tournaments the better we get.  It's like they say, "you can only get as good as your competition".  Fishing shows that "knowledge is power".  A great angler with a snoopy pole could out fish most people.  They know where they want to try, they know the fish, how to present the lure, the speeds, the colors, the actions, and they keep adapting until they figure it out and they have the confidence to keep going.  That is why 10% of the anglers catch 90% of the fish.  That 10% has put in the time.  But another advantage is learning from each other, that can speed up the learning curve.  Sites like this help that a lot.

The DNR is constantly reviewing each product to see if it gives anglers an unfair advantage, the same with major tournament trails.  They will outlaw it, if it does.  Until then I view it as another tool to use and learn with.  After all it cannot turn fish into a frenzy, if they are not there.  But if it worked that simple and turned every fish into a biter, then it would be like having a boat with a shocker..  And it would be illegal.  What would be the challenge?  If it were like that, I would be one asking the DNR to make it illegal.  Not only do I not want it, but I do not want anyone to have it.  We do not want our fishing destroyed.  We love our fishing and looking around here you can see that.

I love the fair catch, always have, all our rules are built around that.  Ask anyone, I am one to say, bring it to the scale.  I live by the rule "win or lose, as long it's above board, and I did all I could, then so be it."  No one wins all the time and no one catchs every fish in the water.  I don't believe that will ever happen.

Another question I have is where is the line between Gulp, dip baits, rapalas, live bait and a biosonix?  They are all attractors and all were sold as "better than live bait!", "fish can't resist em!",..  and none catch fish all the time and every where.  The only difference to point out is that one is electronic.  But it is the one without hooks.  I have seen hundreds of fish on a camera, but never caught one with it.  And it did not make me more productive, just entertained.  In hind sight I probably would have been better off moving to more aggressive fish.  But I was enjoying the show.

Oh well.  Very interesting discussion.  Man my brain is sore.  Almost time to put something cold on it.  See ya on the water.

: Biosonix fish attractor/activator - What do you think?

When the cameras first came out, alot of people thought they should be outlawed because the camera was going to making catching  fish a thing of the past. How many pros do you see using them for fishing ???/  I have one and I realy l;ike it . I think it cool to see what is going on underwater, sometime I am to busy watching the camera than fishing.  Last fall while drifting Fish lake with camera down it neat to see the eyes and how deep. but try and stop the boat get an anchor down,  you are not in the same location.  The only time the camera saved me BIG trouble was a couple of years ago on Leech fishing for Tullis. The flasher said fish were down at the right depth and everything pointed toward tullipies, five of us were fishing,  we thru everything we had at them.  No bites got mad and dropped the camera down and lo and behold but schools of 1" perch.  Lets see, GPS, Camera, Fish Caller, Lure Color Selector tool,. Best bite time indicator, you might as well put my name on next years first palce trophy

Hey Loadmaster, I will get the trophies engraved now and save time later.  You have had those electronics and the edge for the last two years, I think I will hold off and see ya at the scales.  Besides I love to see your fish.  Man, you Big Shots have jumped up the list for most pike caught.  Something like 3rd all time for northerns caught, numbers, total inches, total points, etc.  Not bad at all.  I think you have a few great patterns down pretty well.  I'll keep an eye on you.
