What's your favorite bass lure?

After our great bass fishing this fall, my favorite lure switched from tandem spinners to plastic, senkos.  Of course each has a place and time.  I still prefer a top water when the fish are agressive and the weeds are not all over the surface or next to a clear weededge or good cover.  I prefer spinners for thick weedbeds with openings and along rocks, wood, and the first drop off the weed edge.  I love to pitch a senko under a dock, any structure, or wood or cover.  But to specific cover.  That's the same with top waters, pitch to something, an opening, an edge, something.  Spinners can work lots of water and the same with a buzz bait.  Oh and live baits, they do have their time too.

What's your favorite bait for smallmouth?  largemouth?

Fishing with plastics? and what is a Senko?  Neverheard of them......J/K

Plastics are probably the best thing out there for getting accurate presentations to structure related fish.  Plastics sit right in the fish's strike zone, enticing alot of bites.  Fishing plastics is alot different than throwing weighted lures like spinnerbaits and Rapalas.  Most of time its more of a sight fishing technique with some feel of the rod as well.  If you haven't fished plastics before, give it a try.

My other lures of choice would be Rapalas, torpedoes (Heddon Zora Spook, etc), spinnerbaits and of course my new toy...my weedless frog!  I tried using my frog last year with some great results.  The only problem I had was not getting the hook ups.  I had lots of strikes, but could not land any fish.  When I figure out the rod/reel and line combo, the bass better watch out.

Aight thats my 2 cents worth, actually it probably worth 1 cent.

Who uses live bait for catching bass?  Just ask the President what he learned about fishing for bass with live bait

I really got going into spinnerbaits this year and had alot of fun with them. My favorite bait would be Spooks, but then again thats what I got comfortable with fishing off of my dock on Nebagamon. Always seemed I would end up with some smallies every evening pitching and working. The topwater action of bass is probably my biggest draw to them.

This year though I would have to go with the Berkely frogs with the rubber replaceable legs. Got them late in the year but they may make me a believer.
