Welcome to the site Scott,I see you share the same opinion as I about walleyes!
You probably no how ready Im for the lakes to open!
match fishing in our area sounds intresting.
Thanks! I feel like a crack addict needing a fix! Crack is probably cheaper though compared to what gas is going to cost again this year! ;)
I'm making a trip down to Tennessee at the end of the month through the first week of April to get my bass fix. I hope to hit Guntersville at least once, although it has not been too kind to me the last couple of trips. It's always hot when I go down, except for this time. I will spend most of my time on Chickamauga, which is a couple of dams upriver from the G. I just want to catch some fish! :) Any suggestions for walleye/pike opener up in your region for bass fishing? I am considering a drive up there, or down to pool 4 on the Mississippi.
:)
Yeah more bass anglers in one place. Its starting to sound very bassy around here.. Just kidding. I love to catch and fish bass too. But the walleyes, pike, crappies, muskies, catfish, tullibees, ... All have a time and place where they are a blast too.
Early season bass up this way, well there are several, but I like the Island Lake reservior just north of Duluth and the Lake Vermilion too. Lots of other waters but these are smallie waters and have some nice fish and numbers too. Vermilion also have largies in decent numbers and sizes too. Most people don't fish them enough out there. So if you need another fix around that time, you could get in on some of that fun. If you're around on our first bass league night you could meet a bunch of the bass guys from up this way too.
Good luck in Tennessee, let us know how you do. We have been leaning towards a run trip also. To get a fix.
I would like to fish smaller water if possible. I know that Vermillion can get ugly out there when the wind is ripping, like everywhere else. I was out on Kentucky lake a couple of years ago and was in 5-6 foot rollers and I don't care for that one bit, especially when the water is cold. I know many of you won't give up your "hot spots" but I won't be fishing them much either. :) I live too far away for that. I just want to catch some bass, largemouth or smallmouth. It really doesn't matter to me. I'm just looking to not get blown off the lake. I can get that on Pool 4, but can get out of the miserable weather there. :D
No problem. I feel the same way about the winds. We'll get you a spot to get a good bite. There are several and some would surprise people, right under their noses, but some awesome small water fishing. Email us and we'll let you know of a couple great spots to get out and do it. Hey if we're not fishing league we might join you. For that matter Island is a little big some days but it has great fishing for smallies too. And it is broken up into pieces so it takes a pretty big blow to keep someone of it. But there are a few small lakes to get on in a wind.
We'll keep in touch. Besides we like to learn from everyone we can and we will share what we can too.
