Man, I love to wacky rig.  I think mixing it up is good, try lots of colors, but staying natural is best, browns, greens, whites, blacks, pumpkins, and watermelons.  Mix up the sizes too.  And oh yeah, I know someone that swears by a bead on the line before the hook.  1/0 to 2/0 hooks work great.  I think the FlyMaster threads on a big Mustad long shank, gold plated hook..

They work awesome on weed edges, docks, rafts, trees, rock piles...  any place.  You just have to learn to use em and see if it's the ticket.

Doug, I have to give you credit....being a bass league partner with you really opened my eyes on how much skill there is in working docks.....especially skipping a wacky rig 10'-15' under a dock or pontoon.  It's great to have another weapon sitting on the deck of the boat now.

For wacky rigging around docks I like to use a small circle hook.  It gets hung up a lot less and you don't deep hook fish as often.  If were talking deeper water I'll use and 2/0 extra wide gap hook to make it sink a bit faster.

The biggest thing you can do for wacky rigging is either buy or make the tool below.  I have gone an entire day of wacky rigging docks and only used a couple of senko baits (Big Magic Stiks).  Just run your hook through the O-ring instead of into the bait.  IMO these O-ring tools are priceless!  When you hook a fish the bait will slide up your line and since the line is throug the O-ring you don't damage the bait at all.

Have either of you  tried anything other than senko type worms yet!

I can tell you by watching the Wacky Tool in action it is a must if you really like to wacky worms.

Ill ask Doug this Question. How did you like the small circle hooks when you first used them?lol

You know how I feel Ill never go back to a larger hook again.
