HI I am new to this site and new to the area. I love fishing for bass. I want to try out lake minnetonka but don't even know where to start fishing due to the size. I am hoping someone would be able to give me tips to start me off in the right direction. I like flipping and pitching jigs and want to know if there are dreep grass areas that work the best.
Thank you Tom
Hi Tom, Welcome to Multispecies.
Yeah, we like bass fishing too and it can be addictive. We fish a lot of bass here, but I haven't had a chance to fish Minnetonka, but I am looking to get out there and learn it. I know if we were close to it, we'ld start right at the landing and drop the trolling motor and work around it, even if it took a week or more. To narrow it down talk to anyone at the landing, the bait store, here (is a good spot too), etc.
I am sure someone here has some tips on it.
Tom welcome to the site,Ive been out there a few times and yes you are right there are spots in the weeds that are better than others but the spots that are well known have alot of pressure I would look for the areas that are not being hit by the masses.Dock fishing is a great place to start and then work the adjacent weed beds.Pick a section of the lake that you like to start from and hit it shallow and deep there is no shortage of big bass in the lake.Let me know where your launching from and maybe I could steer you a little closer to the fish.
Thanks for your input. I will be launching at Maxwell bay hopefully real soon. How deep do the milfoil spots go out to?
Thanks guys
Tom
