Well use what you got, but when you got big baits, pitch big baits for the big muskies.. Looks like you both have nice muskies on your avatars. So keep dreaming and get the box stocked up, the ice will melt eventually. Or plan a road trip to get some further South. I know a couple of us are talking about a trip to L.A. no.... no... Lower Arkansas or Oklahoma. I think that after looking things over, South East Oklahoma has a bunch of big fish, just waiting for us.
Warm up the car and go south to get em, or you'll need a lot of gas to melt enough ice to pitch the big baits.
I this question was asked in 2006, but hey...
the trend is for bigger baits...Fall especially...as muskie put on the 'feed bag' for winter. And spring is typically 'smaller baits time', but this is the concept but far from a rule. Various factors contibute to big bait or small bait...we have caught Muskies with 10" jakes in the spring and on 6" bobbies in the Fall...if we knew a undisputable rule, this stuff would not be that fun...I guess pounding the water, getting a sore back and legs, draining yourself mentally...yeah that is fun....paying attention to deatils (what ever they are - weather, baitfish, size, speed, location, etc)...as with Bass fishing, helps dial-you-in to a pattern and catching more 'skies....consistantly would be nice ;)
