I'll give it a try. I am always looking for a new technique and am definitely more interested in quality, then quantity anymore. Man just sitting it on the bottom seems too easy, but then some of the best techniques are the simplest.
Thanks Robbo. Do you get out ice fishing a lot?
If everyday is alot then I would say yes. If I'm working close to home, I can be to the lake by 3:00-4:00. Usually get a late northern run and pick one or two up. When I get the house out I put it on a lake up in about 9 ft of water. This is a Musky lake, so you can't spear in it. I have two 20" x 20" holes in my house so I can watch just like spearing, except I put done rattle reels. You would not believe the size of some of the pike and muskies you have swim through your hole. It is pretty fun to watch, sometimes they come in and just play with minnow by chasing it around, this is when I got the idea of trimming the tail. Since I starting doing that last year I picked up a 35" 36" and had a nice musky on. and caught a few other pike in the 20". Once last winter I had a walleye that I swear was in the 20" come in at 4:30. Got within a foot of my minnow, when all of a sudden he took off. About 10 sec. later I was looking down the hole at a 45'+ Musky.
