Thanks that is great.  I have several red head and white body lures and its amazing that fish love them, since there is nothing in the water that is that pattern.  But as long as they like them, we will use them.  Hey when using both the sucker and a decoy could you attach the sucker under the decoy?  That way the sucker will keep it moving a bit.  A 41 inch pike is a nice pike for anyone.  Good job.  How often do you get out spearing?  I haven't yet, but will have to.  It sounds like too much fun.

I have been fishing for 37 years, competitively for 15 years in tournaments, contests, any time I can.  I have fished competitively for most species now, but the longest for walleyes and catfish.  Do you have a fishing league in your area?  I started our league up here after fishing in another one and loving it.  It has forced me to become a better angler.  Even when out ice fishing, I am a better angler, much better.  I know what to try, how to switch around and never get stuck on one technique or lure.  And especially don't get stuck fishing memories.  That's a trap most people fall into.

I just haven't been able to get out spearing for pike, sucker, sturgeon, etc.  But I want to, and until then I will learn what I can from others that have.  I will be getting prepared for spearing next winter and you have helped with me getting a better picture of what it takes.  I am always working to understand fish and angling better and better and from as many angles as possible.  That's makes us better as adjusting and catching fish.  I know that the top 10% of anglers do catch 90% of the fish, and I am in that group for sure.  But I worked for it and continue to work at getting better all the time.  That's why we have this website to learn and become better anglers, share what we have learned and make new friends, like you.

Do you ever fish in the Duluth, MN area?  If you get up this way, let us know, we'll take you out fishing.

Park Rapids is a good area to fish, but yes a bit west of here.  Yeah we fish every thing and largely walleyes.  I figured you were in your teens since your the supergoodfishing Teen.  Yes I have a flasher it is a Zercom Color Point and I have used it for years and love it.  But the Vex you have is a good flasher.  I did notice that I said I have been fishing competitively for 17 years and really I have fished contests that I felt comfortable with for 26 years.  How well.  I love fishing and I can see that you do too.  Does your family like to fish like you do?
