My dad fishes alot and he got me into fishing. now he drops me off at the lake and i set up. sometimes he just leaves me there with a freind and some times he comes with.i'm trying to get my brothers into it too, but there more into the summer fishing. they have to be casting or switching lures to make it fun. last time i went out i brought my little brother out (he is 7). i decided that it would be alot easier if we didn't use a house so 5 minutes after i get the 3 tip ups set up and im just starting to jig he starts to get cold and forces me to bring him in. i learned my lession that beginners always have to be warm. i was woundering if i have to enter my self in the "gear give away" or if i am automaticly entered?

I love to fish and none of my brothers are as interested either, so that's pretty normal.  I am glad they do the summer fishing, I prefer that too.  I know the deal with young anglers and rookies, you do need to worry more about making it fun, warm and comfortable then a good bite.  But I am glad you tried.  On the "gear give away", you are automatically entered, since you are a registered user here.  Anyone that wants to get in only has to register and they are in.  We don't spam them or bug them at all.  Good luck on that.

Yeah, if I think of any more I will.  Remember you can ask any of us too.  And we have a lot of topics started out there.  So just fire away.  And let anyone else that likes to fish to know we are here.

It's good to chat with someone who loves fishing.  Thanks for the info on spearing.  I will definitely have to do it..  Sounds like just too much fun to miss..

Welcome supergoodfishingteen to MMTS!

You remind me of myself when I was a lot younger.  My parents or my fishing buddies parents would drop us off at a lake so we could get out fishing.  It was a blast, we would pack our own lunch and dinner sometimes and just spend the whole day fishing and having fun.  Our parents were nervous the first few times, but then it didn't bother them that much after that.  How much trouble can you get into when your fishing?

You, your bro's and your dad should come to Duluth area sometime and do some pre fishing with some of the teams in the league.  Doug is always on the water and wouldn't mind taking you on the famous St. Louis River!

Hay supergoodfishingteen, have you ever fished the Straight River in Park Rapids?

Tight Lines.
