DABL bass get together.

This is an invite to anyone who might want to come out and do a little friendly competition on Big Lake this Saturday, 6th starting at 9am to 3pm.

No details or rules on this one, just show up.   We are bringing the DABL weigh scales, but who knows everyone there might just decide on length and there could be some side pots if anyone want to participate in that.   But those things will decided at the launch, like weight or length, pots, number of fish to be weighed/scored, etc.

Bring as many people you want to put in the boat, remember this is a friendly get together and a great way to bring someone that might not normally fish in a bass league or a fish competition.

Hopefully the weather will work everyone, if not, it's just part of the game we call fishing!

Al and I are going to eat at the Junction Oasis, a truck stop off of HWY 210 and 35W near Black Bear Casino.  We'll be there around 7am, so if anyone want to join us for some hot breakfast, show up!

Geeeesssss, how about a little more notice and maybe even a phone call. I would have loved to, but made another commitment.

Good Luck and have fun!

Well we had a great time and caught a lot of very good bass.  There must have been nearly 80 largemouth bass 16 inches or more caught by our 3 boats.  That is right, I have posted the photos of some of them in the photo gallery.  And we had a lot more.

click here to check out some of our bass caught.

I am pretty sure some of us will be out again.  We love fishing and will continue to get out until the ice and weather stops us.  Maybe it will be posted sooner next time.  I didn't know if I was going until the day before, but we had a foggy, cool day and the wind was a blowing, but with the fish biting, we stayed and worked on our techniques to see what the lake would give us.  It was an awesome bite, once we figured out what we needed to do.  ;)

Yeah, what a blast!  The fishing was great and probably one of the best days I've had on the water in terms of numbers and size, didn't think the lake could produce a bite like that.  The best thing is we didn't have to move around all that much.  The fish were biting on just about everything, tubes, worms, spinnerbaits and crankbaits, some better then others, but it was a good time to try something different you might not otherwise throw.  And catching 2 walleyes on ribbon tail worms was a treat.  I caught that 17" walleye on a 10" power worm, I guess he was hungry.

There were fish shallow and deep.  If you worked it shallow, tune your setup for that bite.  If your working deep, then tune your gear for that bite.  Doug and I spent most of the time fishing the deep weeds using plastics.  We caught numerous pike and of course a lot of bite offs.
