Duluth Minnesota Fishing Leagues - News
MMTS News
The weather was nice but the fishing was tough again.  We had only one team break the hundred point mark tonight.  They did it with a great bag of five species including nice limits of walleyes and crappies.  Great job to Proven Presentation!!  Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.

Our second place team had a nice limit of walleyes and a bonus pike.  Good job Frustrated.  You guys do this year after year..

Third place went to the Team TGIF with a three species bag of pike, walleye and smallmouth bass.

Thanks to Team Sarcastic for tolling in our one boat that broke down on the water.  We hope the Choppers get their motor running better soon.  See everyone at Caribou Lake next Monday.  Remember the special pike regulations that mean no pike over 24 inches can be scored or hit the livewell.

If you check out the league statistics, our numbers are growing quick and we will be passing a lot of mile marks this year.  Very good fishing everyone..

We have now scored over 6000 fish.  6006 fish to date.     Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.

Thanks to all members of MMTS.  This is going better and better every year AND everyone is getting better all the time.  That shows in the numbers and the size of fish caught, under all types of conditions.

We have a great database and lots of information in it.  We already have a few teams (at week four) with as many points scored, as it used to take to win an entire season.  Now just 7 years ago, a nightly score of over a hundred points was rare.  Now it is common and you need to get closer to two hundred points to win a night.  Half of the teams in the first season didn't score that in a season.  That's amazing improvement.

This is truly a group of talented anglers.  This pool of talent keeps pushing each of us and making us better anglers.

Thanks and Congrats on the league passing it's 6,000th fish caught.  Very nice..

The weather was nice but the fishing was tough.  Still we had a lot of hundred plus point teams.  Lots of smallmouth bass and multispecies bags.  Not too many limits.   Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.

Our first place team had four species and nice fish.  That was the Patience team of Steve Ondrus and Dan Roach.  Congratulations guys.  Great job.

Second place went to the Frustrated Team of Don and Ron.  Third went to Team Sarcastic: Pat and Ross.

Great job to all teams and see you at the Garfield launch on the St. Louis River next Monday.  Remember 5:30 to 9:00pm and review the St. Louis River regulations.  All smallmouth must be 14 inches, all walleyes 15 inches and no more than 4 walleyes per boat and no more than 2 over 20 inches.  NO more than 2 pike over 30 and no more than 4 pike in possession.  Muskies could be biting and most all our species are on at this time.  I hope mother nature is nice to us.

Night 3 results are now online, all scores. Please check them out.  Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.

Well the weather wasn't very nice and we had to call the night early, but luckily only by 30-45 minutes.  We still saw some nice catches.  We had some great smallmouth bassnn caught the biggest being just over 20 inches by the Loadmaster, Bob Carson.  Even with a little boat the Gone Postal team kept in the game.  Good job guys.  We also had some nice baskets of bassnn by the Patience team and our winners, Team Sarcastic..

DanRoach, Team Patience with a St. Louis River Smallmouth Bassn.   Ross Korpela, Team Sarcastic with a St. Louis River Smallmouth Bassn.

Team Sarcastic had three species, but they had limits of each and lots of bonus fish to score 211 points and win.  Second went to Team Choppers and Third to Team TGIF.  It was a beautiful night until the huge storm fronts started moving in from the south west.  We are glad that everyone got off safely and we took care of our scoring in the rain, but safely on shore.

Well our night on Fish Lake was both tough and high scoring.  All scores are now online. Please check them out.  Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.

It was a tough night, due to the weather changes, but that did not show by the way some teams scored.  One winning team did it with a ALL TIME high score of 243 points.  WOW!  Congrats to Team Sarcastic, Pat Day and Ross Korpela.

The fish biting were pike, perch, crappies and bluegills of course.  Scouting really did not pay off too well.  But if you change your locations based on the wind, you did well.

Next we go back to the St. Louis River, this time the Smithville (Clyde's Avenue) launch.  See ya there and good fishing..

DABL Rules
We have added this rule to the bass league to satisfy the requirement that the DNR has set forth regarding tournaments held in Minnesota.  Basically any tournament where there are more than 15 boats will need to get a permit from the DNR.  DABL has no permits because the plan was stay within the 15 boat limit.  There are currently 15 teams reserved for this season.  So teams that have not reserved will need to call me prior to the start of the tourney to find out if there have been any cancellations.  My cell number is 218-590-1712.

Our first night's results from May 22nd, St. Louis River, Boy Scout landing are now online. Please check them out.  Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.

It was a tough night for a bite and it showed in the fishing points and fish scored.  This is the all time lowest number of walleyes scored on our opening night from Boy Scout.  That says something about the weather.  The fish that bite were concentrated and only a few teams really got into them.  The fish biting were pike, perch, and crappies.  Only pike were really aggressive, but only in small areas.  So scouting really paid off for this night.  That changes as things warm up and all the fish get going.

Unfortunately one team broke their lower unit.  We are glad that the Old Farts are ok and wish the night had gone better for them.  But very glad no one got hurt and hope their boat and they are back in action soon.

Next we goto Fish Lake on Tuesday, May 30th off the dam landing on the north side of the lake.  See ya there and good fishing..

We are fishing on Fish Lake on Tuesday, May 30th, from the launch at the dam on the west end of the lake.  That will let us fish Island Lake in three weeks when the muskies are legal.  It would be a shame to catch one and not score it.  I do hope someone catches one.
