MMTS News
Night 6, June 25 was a tough night for bass fishing, but a high scoring event for Island Lake South, near Moose Lake.  Great weather brought out lots of locals and boat loads of kids and families, that were fishing most locations and hard for many hours prior to our contest.  Along with that, some shoreline construction was going on and the water near them very muddy.  This was a good tough situation to fish, you had to fish the right fish and the ones not under too much pressure.  AND with most teams scoring over hundred points, everyone did great.

First place went to Team TGIF, Ed Forrestal and Doug Pirila, with a 6-species bag with the first ever MMTS limit of walleyes, limits of crappies and bluegills, and some rock bass, perch, and 4 largemouth bass for a record 184 points.  Not bad..

Second went to Team Gone Postal, John Kytola and Bob Carson, with another six species bag. Third tonight went to Team Barley Afloat, Pat Cooke and Karl Johnson.  The big fish for the night was largemouth bass and Team Choppers won that, with a respectable 17 inch largie.  The wildcard was for 7th and went to Team Frustrated, again, talk about lucky guys.  Congrats to everyone for a good time on a tough night of fishing.

Our rookie team of Lucky Not Good keeps bringing fish to the scoring and is taking an early lead in the Rookie of the Year standings.  Good luck guys.  They also had the ONLY limit of all bonus crappies, all over 10 inches.  Great job.

Night 5, June 18 was a tough night of fishing and lowest scoring event, in a LONG time.  Bad weather, higher water levels, dirty water, colder water temps and we started right behind a bad storm front.  These are the nights that test all our fishing skills.

First place went to the Old Farts, Rick Olson and Mark Jukich, with a 4-species bag with 5 bonus crappies, a few rock bass, perch, and a nice walleye for a score of 99 points.

Second went to Team Patience, Steve Ondrus and Dan Roach, with the only other multispecies bag - 3 species bag including rock bass, catfish and a pike. Third tonight went to Team TGIF, Ed Forrestal and Doug Pirila.  The big fish for the night was walleye and Team Old Farts won that, with a respectable 18.75 inch walleye.  The wildcard was for 8th and went to Team Frustrated.  Congrats to everyone for a good time on a tough night of fishing.
